Rolex Explorer \u2013 Ref. 114270 (2004)<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

The Rolex Explorer ref. 114270<\/strong> is a modern classic that retains the traditional 36 mm proportions<\/strong> of the original Explorer while introducing a sapphire crystal and the more modern calibre 3130. Dating from 2004<\/strong>, this example features the model\u2019s unmistakable black 3-6-9 dial<\/strong> and original stainless-steel Oyster bracelet<\/strong>. The 114270 was produced from approximately 2001 to 2010.<\/p>\n

Case<\/h3>\n

The stainless-steel Oyster case measures 36 mm<\/strong> in diameter and features a smooth polished bezel<\/strong>, screw-down caseback and screw-down Twinlock crown.<\/p>\n

A sapphire crystal<\/strong> protects the dial. The Explorer was designed as one of Rolex\u2019s Professional watches, with the Oyster construction providing a factory water-resistance rating of 100 metres<\/strong>. Rolex continues to use the same fundamental 36 mm Oyster architecture for the modern Explorer.<\/p>\n

Dial<\/h3>\n

The classic black dial<\/strong> is defined by the Explorer’s characteristic oversized 3, 6 and 9 Arabic numerals<\/strong>, triangular marker at 12 and highly legible luminous hour markers.<\/p>\n

The Mercedes-style hour hand, luminous minute hand and central seconds complete one of Rolex’s most recognizable sports-watch dial layouts. The time-only configuration, without a date window, maintains excellent symmetry and legibility.<\/p>\n

Movement<\/h3>\n

Powered by the automatic Rolex calibre 3130<\/strong>, a 31-jewel<\/strong> chronometer movement operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz)<\/strong>. Period 114270 examples are documented by Phillips with precisely this calibre.<\/p>\n

The calibre 3130 provides approximately 48 hours of power reserve<\/strong> and features central hours, minutes and seconds with stop-seconds for precise time setting.<\/p>\n

Bracelet<\/h3>\n

Fitted with its Rolex stainless-steel Oyster bracelet<\/strong> and Rolex folding clasp.<\/p>\n

Condition<\/h3>\n
