Omega Speedmaster Professional Ed White – Ref. 105.003-65
The Omega Speedmaster ref. 105.003-65 is one of the most historically significant references in the Speedmaster lineage. Produced between 1965 and 1966, it was the last Speedmaster to feature the symmetrical straight-lug case before the introduction of the asymmetrical Professional case. Worn by astronauts during NASA’s Gemini missions and famously associated with Ed White, the first American to perform a spacewalk, the ref. 105.003 is regarded as one of the most desirable “Pre-Moon” Speedmasters.
Case
Crafted in stainless steel, the symmetrical straight-lug case measures 39 mm in diameter and retains the clean, elegant proportions that distinguish the early Speedmaster references. The black tachymeter bezel completes the iconic tool-watch design that would become legendary in the years that followed.
Dial
Classic black stepped dial with applied Omega logo, luminous hour markers, and the signature tri-compax chronograph layout. The stepped dial, together with the straight-lug case, defines the character of the 105.003 and is among the most sought-after configurations for vintage Speedmaster collectors.
Movement
Manual-winding Omega calibre 321, the legendary column-wheel chronograph movement developed by Lemania. Revered for its technical excellence and historical significance, the calibre 321 powered every Speedmaster worn during NASA’s Gemini missions and the earliest Apollo missions, making it one of the most celebrated chronograph movements ever produced.
Bracelet / Strap
Bracelet or strap configuration may vary depending on the current setup.
Condition
Very nice overall condition with light signs of wear. The watch underwent a full service in August 2024 by Omega specialists, with a strong emphasis on preserving its originality. The service exceeded €1,000, ensuring excellent mechanical performance while maintaining the watch’s authentic vintage character.
Collector Notes
The 105.003-65 occupies a unique position in Speedmaster history as the last straight-lug “Pre-Moon” reference and the model famously worn by astronaut Ed White during the Gemini IV mission, the first American spacewalk. Combining the iconic calibre 321, stepped dial, and symmetrical case, it is considered one of the cornerstone references for serious Speedmaster collectors. Professionally serviced while preserving its originality, this example represents an exceptional opportunity to acquire one of Omega’s most historically important chronographs.
