Rolex Oyster Perpetual 34 – Ref. 1002 (1975)

The Rolex Oyster Perpetual ref. 1002 is an elegant and understated vintage Rolex, combining the simplicity of a time-only dial with the robust Oyster construction and automatic Perpetual movement. Dating from 1975, this particular example is especially attractive thanks to its solid 14kt yellow gold case and naturally aged champagne “ghost” dial, giving the watch a distinctive character that can only develop over decades.

Case

Crafted in solid 14kt yellow gold, the classic Oyster case measures approximately 34 mm in diameter and features a matching smooth yellow gold bezel. The clean case design and compact proportions give the watch a refined appearance while retaining the characteristic robustness of Rolex’s Oyster construction.

The watch is fitted with an acrylic crystal and screw-down Rolex crown and caseback.

Dial

The attractive champagne ghost dial has developed a distinctive naturally aged appearance over the decades. Its softened and faded finish gives the watch a unique vintage character, complemented by applied gold baton hour markers and matching gold hands.

As an Oyster Perpetual, the ref. 1002 features a clean time-only display without a date, resulting in an exceptionally balanced and symmetrical dial.

Movement

Automatic Rolex calibre 1570, a robust 26-jewel manufacture movement widely regarded as one of Rolex’s most dependable vintage automatic calibres. Operating at 19,800 vibrations per hour, the calibre 1570 is renowned for its durability, accuracy and excellent long-term serviceability.

Bracelet / Strap

Fitted with an aftermarket leather strap and a Rolex gold-plated pin buckle.

Condition

Very nice overall vintage condition with signs of wear consistent with age. The champagne dial has developed an attractive naturally aged ghost appearance, giving this particular watch a unique personality. The movement is in working condition.  No service history available.
