Oyster Perpetual Day-Date

Rolex Day-Date 36 – Ref. 1802

The Rolex Day-Date ref. 1802 is a considerably less common variation of the classic vintage Day-Date, distinguished by its smooth polished bezel rather than the fluted bezel of the much more frequently encountered ref. 1803. This example is crafted in 18kt yellow gold and features an attractive silver dial with a Spanish-language day display, paired with an aftermarket brown leather strap.

Case

The Oyster case is crafted from 18kt yellow gold and measures the traditional 36 mm in diameter.

Most importantly, the ref. 1802 features a smooth polished gold bezel. This is the defining characteristic separating it from the otherwise closely related ref. 1803 with its fluted bezel. A period-style acrylic crystal with Cyclops magnifier sits over the date at 3 o’clock.

Dial

The white dial features applied yellow-gold baton hour markers, matching gold hands and a central sweep seconds hand.

The Day-Date’s signature calendar arrangement places the date at 3 o’clock and the fully spelled-out day at 12 o’clock.

The outer dial incorporates an attractive detailed minute/seconds track with Arabic five-minute indications, giving this example a distinctly vintage appearance.

Movement

The ref. 1802 was powered by Rolex’s automatic 15xx-series chronometer movement.

Strap

Fitted with an aftermarket brown leather strap and aftermarket pin buckle.

Condition

Very nice overall vintage condition with signs of wear consistent with age. The movement runs accurately. In-house revision in August 2026.
